Women Stop Acting Like Patriarchal Dogs!!
In 1800, the widow’s heads were shaven, they were made to wear white saree, live a life without any pleasure and even the food they consumed was devoided of spices or tastemakers.
Sati was present, barbaric widow rituals were prominent and all this was done in the name of religion and culture.
How have things changed from this to the freedom of modern young women?
People retaliated, understood the misogyny and patriarchal mindset behind it, understood the cruelty of such procedures, educated women and the society that how wrong was the treatment.
Rallied against, made movements against it, made women feel that their life is more than marriage and they deserve respect despite having a husband or not.
Sati got abolished, women themselves started retaliating against atrocities imposed on them, Rambai Ranade and Savirtibai Phule like pioneers were role models of the society.
Coming to the question, should “Hijab” be banned from schools and colleges?
Instead of focusing more on the ban, we should make the girls educate and make them realize the misogyny and patriarchy behind it. Make them aware of their own identities and make them understand the flaws present in one’s culture and religion.
- Don’t let women sexualize themselves.
I saw some interviews of Muslim women where they were comparing themselves to candies and calling men ants. Don’t put the bar of respect for yourselves and to the women of other communities so low.
Women aren’t property, neither someone’s eye candy nor an object. She is a human just like the men.
It’s high time that women irrespective of any community stop acting like WATCHDOGS OF PATRIARCHY.
- If a man wants to show dominance in a community he attacks the women.
- If a man wants to harm a family honor then it attacks a woman.
- If a man wants to hurt another man, then he will attack the woman of that man.
WHY?
Because we have all labeled ourselves, directly or indirectly as “Man Property” by us and by society. We have to break that glass and move forward and present ourselves as free individuals.
Also, stop acting as puppets of RELIGIOUS, BIGOT MEN WHO DONT FOLLOW ANYTHING TO THE “T” BUT EXPECT WOMEN TO FOLLOW PATRIARCHAL TRADITIONS IN THE NAME OF CULTURE.
Women should focus more on their education, financial status, their autonomy towards their own bodies, health, and freedom.
We need more feminist movements, more feminist models from both genders, joining each other hands to demolish the pillar of patriarchy.
I totally will respect the decision of the court but would love if we have an open discussion regarding cruel and misogynistic cultures and values. Have harsh judgment to religious bigotry.
That in the future itself a ban shouldn’t be needed because people themselves would have shunned the entire narrative of Ghunghat, Hijab, Burqa, and Niqab.
